Keeping Unwanted Cats Away

Granny in Arizona writes:
Having problems with stray cats on your property. Don't want to spend a fortune on the spray to keep cats away. Here's an easy, inexpensive and non-toxic way to spray and keep those unwanted cats away. Mix about 1/3 ammonia to 2/3 water in a spray bottle. Now simply spray where you don't want the cats to be. Cats just can't stand the ammonia. Edges of gardens, kids sandboxes or play areas etc. it's not going to hurt your kids or your pets if you wait a little while for the overwhelming initial smell to dissipate. Having someone in the home allergic to cats, it's important to keep those strays away from my home.

This will also work to keep raccoons away. I use a much stronger solution to spray my garbage cans to keep away raccoons.
