You have heard the slogan 'Drive a little and save a lot!' in advertising ,but actually there is some basis in fact outside the hyperbole. Where I live, I can save between 1.7% and 3.7% on  sales tax by shopping outside the city limits. Check out the tax rates in your nearby communities, you may save a bunch on taxes. if you are located near a state line, it may cheaper to shop in the next state. Business locations on the outskirts of town or other less desirable places often have lower overhead and can pass the savings on to you. Keep in mind the cost of gas when calculating your savings.
